Preston A. Huckabee, P.E. - Chief Engineer

Preston's professional career has been spent entirely in the field of highway and bridge engineering. Like Joe, he started his career in the public sector, working for the Massachusetts Highway Department at both the District and Headquarter levels. His duties included the design of bridge repair, rehabilitation and replacement projects, as well as highway design projects. During this time, he gained thorough understanding of the state design and construction process. As an adjunct professor at UMass-Lowell, he has taught a graduate level bridge design course for the past nine years.

At Gill Engineering, Preston is responsible for technical oversight of bridge design projects, including preparation of plans, specifications and estimates for bidding. Other work responsibilities include oversight of: structural ratings for load carrying capacity; design of emergency repairs to bridges and other structural highway elements; preparation of type studies for bridge alternatives; review of shop drawings and other contractor designs and procedures; preparation of sketch plans; and performing QA/QC of GEA Designs.
