Bridge Preservation


Gloucester

MassDOT Bridge Route 128 over the Annisquam River: Rehabilitation of a major seven-span river crossing with a 436 foot main arch span. Repairs to this bridge included reconstruction of the bridge sidewalks, catwalks and supporting structure, and the replacement of the bituminous concrete wearing surface and bridge deck with an integral high performance concrete deck and wearing surface.


Fairhaven-New Bedford

MassDOT Bridge Route 6 over Acushnet River: Design of superstructure and substructure rehabilitation of three bridges spanning across the Acushnet river, between Fairhaven, New Bedford and two islands. The work includes patching of deteriorated areas of the concrete deck; replacement of deck expansion joints; replacement of bearings; repair of selected steel stringers, floorbeams and girders; painting of steel superstructure; and repair of concrete and granite piers and abutments. Construction work will be staged such that vehicular and pedestrian traffic will be maintained during construction.

Hawley

MassDOT Bridge Route 8A (West Hawley Road) over the Chickley River: Bridge preservation of a 115 foot, single span pony truss. Work included complete deck replacement; stringer and floorbeam repairs and replacements, strengthening of the trusses, and concrete substructure repair.
