MassDOT/MassDCR Alewife Brook Greenway Pedestrian Bridge: Design of a timber boardwalk that spanned over difficult terrain and wetlands areas.  The structure, totaling 2,600 feet in length, is constructed of IPE Brazilian hardwood and pressure treated Southern Yellow Pine.  Steel helical anchors penetrate through layers of peat into sound soil layers, providing foundation support.  This low environmental impact foundation system uses small machinery for installation and minimizes excavation or disturbance of soil during construction.
